Promise after Promise

 Joshua 1:1-3

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Joshua chapter 1 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. Promise after promise is woven throughout this whole chapter. Moses has died. The Lord is speaking to Joshua to go forward. Take the children of Israel into the promised land.  Every place you put your foot will be given unto you. What a great feat that had been passed on to Joshua. It wasn’t just laid in his lap. There was work to do and battles to be fought. God commanded him to be strong and courageous. God laid out a plan that would set them up for complete victory. As we read down in this chapter there are more unique strategies that would cause them to prosper and be successful in their endeavors. Don’t turn the right hand or the left, simply meaning stay focused on God. Meditate upon the Word day and night. Can you see why they were set up to win? Because the Word is a two edged sword. We can fight battles and never even have to engage physically. When you know the promises of God you won’t worry about the enemy. God promises to defeat the enemy for us. He was defeated on the cross. Knowing God’s Word will be one of greatest weapons you will ever use. God promises to be with us in every situation.

My Input

I've been writing in my new dovtional about the principles, patterns, and promises of God that are all throughout the Bible. The scriptures that I share and the insights are just the tip of the iceburg. There are hundreds of scriptures and stories that show these three attributes in there purest forms. I'm sure that each reader could easily have their own verses and reflections of all three of these. I pray the ones that are written in this devotional will encourage you and help you grow in your daily walk with God.

Feel free to share these blogs with others. We all need to be encouraged. Devotionals are a great way to read scriptures and to see different views. We can glean from other people's gifts. These devotionals have call to action questions or statements after each day. A person can journal or even put what God spoke to them about that particular verse.
