Day 7

 Romans 5:3-5

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4. And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

It seems that hope is something that we learn to lean into as we travel this road called life. To need hope we must experience hopeless situations. Tribulation is not the word we really want to hear. We know that God tells us we shall have tribulation. Be of good cheer though because God has overcome the world. Through each challenge that life brings us to our hope will be strengthened. Patience is a fruit of the spirit. That means we will face times of waiting. Nothing like waiting to build that patient muscle. Of course as we wait we will experience different emotions. We will question the reason for certain trials. We will wonder where God is. Verse 5 should build our faith and confidence. Hope maketh not ashamed. Why? Because God loves us. He cares. He’s working something far greater in our spirits than our natural man can comprehend. He is more concerned about your character than your comfort. It doesn’t feel good when we are learning what hope really means. Remember God is growing you through this thing we call hope.
