Joel 2: 25-26
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Years can Eat up other Years!
Have you lost years? I have!
For me, I wasted them. I can't retrieve them. Neither can you.
The good news is that God can. He can restore them and cause the good years to eat up the bad ones. In my deep study to know God's word more, I stumbled upon this golden nugget while listening to someone teach. They were teaching on the journey of Joseph. Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams. In both dreams, there were seven years of plenty, then seven years of famine.
Genesis 41:1-7
1. And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
2. And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.
3. And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.
4. And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.
5. And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
6. And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
7. And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
Joseph is usually the main character in this storyline. Rightly so. We know he interprets Pharaoh's dreams. Let's see what else is being said in this passage.
The seven sickly cows were eating the seven healthy cows. The seven thin ears of corn were eating the seven good and full ears of corn. We know that the seven is the number of years each season would be.
YEARS CAN EAT OTHER YEARS!
We can spend years doing the wrong thing. Waste gifts and callings on the wrong things. Make wrong choices. Bad decisions. Fall into traps that the enemy set for us.
Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly.
(John 10:10) KJV
When I began to see the narrative of these dreams, I wanted to shout. Joseph gave Pharaoh wise instructions about these seven years of plenty. He tells him to save in the years of plenty because famine is coming.
God can come in and restore years ( Joel 2:25). He can let you make up for lost time. He can speed things up. He can take something that would take ten years and bring it about in one. He can bring you before great men and cause them to favor you. They won't even know why. God can redeem our lost years. I know we can't turn back our biological clock. The good news is that God can restore what we lost by helping us have a better future. He can make our latter greater than our former. I encourage you today to dive into the Bible and feast on the stories of redemption. Stories of restoration. Nothing is too hard for God. All things are possible through Him.
Let God restore the years that Satan stole from you. Even if you feel like you opened the door and let him have them.
